I just added some tracks from a live recording my band, The Blake Branch Group, did. I set my PC up backstage and we recording everything directly to my Aardvark Q10. There will be more tracks to come later.
Track notes for The Blake Branch Group Live
"The Red Baron" (Cobham)
Blake Branch: Bass
Garrett Branch: Drums
Rusty Frith: Guitar
This fun cover tune gives us much less chord changes to worry about, freeing us to stretch out a bit. I played my Fodera Imperial 5-string using a variety of techniques to create some sonic interest, including fingerstyle, slap, palm muting, and hard plucking.
"Humid Skies" (Branch)
Blake Branch: Bass
Garrett Branch: Drums
Rusty Frith: Guitar
I have tried hard to keep this tune from going too far in bossa nova territory, so I tried to get Garrett to play something more drum n' bass-ish. You may hear like there is a 2nd guitarist in the bridge, but that is me 2-hand tapping chords while sustaining the bass note at the same time.
"Three Views of a Secret" (Pastorius)
Blake Branch: Bass
A solo version of my favorite Jaco Pastorius tune. I used my Surine Quest 5-string tuned EADGC.
"More Luv" (Wooten)
Blake Branch: Bass
Garrett Branch: Drums
Rusty Frith: Guitar
Ed Lacour: Keyboard
My favorite Victor Wooten tune!
Notes for the Look Both Directions album
"Look Both Directions"
Blake Branch: 5-string bass (multi-tracked), guitar, synth programming
Garrett Branch: drums
This is the title track for my upcoming CD at CafePress.com! There is not alot to say about this tune except its a 7/8 groove that evolves into sort of a drum n' bass thing. It is my favorite composition on the CD. The synth-like solo is the guitar with a bunch of plugins.
"Gara"
Blake Branch: 5-string bass (multi-tracked), percussion, guitar
Garrett Branch: drums
The groove was intended to be strictly Latin, but Garrett's funk groove worked so well on top of it. The hand drum sound is me playing a tom of Garrett's Pearl Masters Studio with my hands. The harmonics groove at the intro is my tribute to Jaco.
